What do we Offer
Local Performances
Each year our classes are asked to perform at events across Lincoln with event organisers saying we were 'highly recommended'. We have been asked to perform at local school fetes as well as local village and charity events like the Walk in the Park which was a 12 hour charity event raising money for Cancer Research, St Barnabas Hospice and Lincolnshire & Notts Air Ambulance.
Shows
All students have the opportunity to perform in our end of year dance show usually in July. The end of year show runs annually but we alternate each year between a full production with staging and lighting in professional theatres including the New Theatre Royal, Lincoln and The Venue at Bishop Grosetesste University as well as having themed awards showcase/events. In 2023, the school participated in the latest full school production ‘Let the Games Begin’ at New theatre Royal, Lincoln. An exciting and upbeat show which students and parents a like throughly enjoyed. In 2021 we had 'Lets Celebrate at Windmill Farm' where students and their families came together to celebrate the achievement of the year with a disco and awards presentation.
Our aim is for students to experience performing on stage as well as experience the creative and rehearsal process associated with putting on shows as well as all their achievements to be highlighted and celebrated.
Dancers
From personal experience as a professional dancer and teacher you are asked to perform many styles for shows as well as choreograph for shows and classes. Our students are encouraged to learn different dance styles from an early age so they can develop and enhance their skills if they decide to become professional dancers. Our classes aim to develop a well rounded dancer and student. We play movement games to build stamina, confidence and team building. They learn key moves from each style to enhance their technique as well as learn and create fun routines. Classes are taught in a fun and friendly manner to allow a child's passion to dance flourish in a safe environment.
Exams
Students are able to take Graded Examinations and Medal Tests with the United Kingdom Dance Alliance (UKA). Children will able to sit exams once they have reached the required standard. We will add additional exam sessions into the timetable once an exam day has been booked where students who wish to take an exam can get extra training and learn the required syllabus.
United Kingdom Alliance and NPAA are a dance examination board that offers accredited technical examinations and medal tests in all forms of dance.
Dance Days
Each holiday Lisa Hurst Dance runs dance days where children can develop and share their talent, learn new styles and meet and have fun with new friends who share a passion for dance. We regularly run musical theatre workshops learning dances, songs and scripts from the Lion King Musical and Hairspray as well as learning different styles like Cheerleading, Bollywood and Irish to name a few.
